DC Council hears ranked selection votes

Supporters say ranked vote will help some voters feel comfortable given the chance to choose a candidate they truly love, without fear of “wasting” their ballot. for a candidate they worry can’t win – this would probably benefit non-traditional candidates with smaller budgets. Some evidence has come from cities that have used ranked-choice voting including Minneapolis, Santa Fe, NM, and Oakland, California, to suggest that women and candidates of color benefit from this system.
