Dark witch RPG Black Book has summoned an August launch date

Dark, witty RPG Black Book has itself summoned a release date and a new trailer. A gritty adventure based on Slavic myths follows the story of a witch named Vasilisa as she tries to use the Devil’s Black Book to bring her betrothed back from the dead. You know, the kind of mission that has never, ever had terrible consequences. We’ll find out how Vasilisa’s story goes down when the Black Book comes out in August.
On her quest to revive her lover, Vasilisa performs a slightly deck-like RPG battle, using spell cards to fend off great demons. Developer Morteshka says you’ll also do side quests and puzzles throughout the seven chapters of Vasilisa’s adventures through the countryside. Oh, but collecting demons has consequences. If you don’t keep them busy with your bidding, they’ll torture you instead.
You can also get a glimpse of the side quests and daily shooting in the new trailer. Alice B took the Black Book for a spin last summer and called it one of the the best Steam Festival demos from last June’s event. She also explains a bit more about non-combat witchcraft:
“But the coolest thing is that you have to do the witch business on a daily basis, which means seeing people who have come to you for help and advice. The first of these, in the demo, is a the miller saw strange shapes in the dark at his factory so the next day you have to visit the mill and see what’s going on It’s like a Granny Weatherwax’ that way – although in this case most of the demons are real, so you can’t just use placebo pills and sugar water.”
You can still play the Black Book intro for yourself for free On steam if you want to see before August.
The Black Book will be released on August 10th On steam, Epic (no store page yet) and GOG for £20 / $25 / €25 with a 15% discount during launch week. You’ll also be able to find it on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
