Dark Alliance has a surprise PC release today

Wizards of the Coast and Interplay Entertainment suddenly announced that Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance (yes, the one from 20 years ago) will release on PC… today. Not to be confused with Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance, which was disappointing earlier this year, Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance is recent re-released for consoles. But this is the first time it is available to play on PC.

The action RPG has all the classic elements you would expect from the genre, looting, leveling, defense, dodging and monster slaying. There are over 40 different types of monsters and bosses to present you with weapons of choice. For those who follow these, Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance use the third version of Dungeons & Dragons set of rules.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance There are three customizable heroes. You can play as the dwarf warrior Kromlech, the archer Vahn or the elf witch Adrianna. Between them, they cast 11 spells, including D&D classics like Magic Missile and Mordenkainen’s Sword. The game also boasts over 25 active and passive skills to power up your character, all of which will be fully voiced. As you relive this iconic adventure, you’ll explore a multitude of environments, including the sewers beneath the city of Baldur’s Gate, the Sunset Mountains, and the Marshes of Chemlimber. You can team up with a friend to solve it Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance in two-player co-op. And when you’ve finished the whole game, you can do it all again. Only harder thanks to the different challenge modes. Extreme mode is 10 times harder than easy mode.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance can be found On steam, GOG and Epic Games Store for $29.99 USD. The game will not support traditional online co-op, only local support.
