‘Daily Show’ Chris Christie’s Trevor Noah Grills Endorses Trump in 2024

The first thing Trevor Noah asked Chris Christie as they sat down for a long talk about The Daily Show Monday night is, “Are we having a legitimate conversation or are you going to meet the politician with me?”

Christie promised Noah a “completely legit” interview. And he’s mostly stuck with it, sharing candid anecdotes from his new book, The Republican Rescue: Saving the Party from Opponents, Conspiracy Theists, and Dangerous Policies of Joe Biden and publicly criticize Donald Trump more than any other senior conservative has been willing to do since January 6. But when it comes to the question of whether he will support Trump if he becomes the Party’s candidate Republic in 2024 or not, Christie refused to rule it out.

On one hand, Christie says he’s “definitely” thinking about another presidential run in 2024, and when Noah asked if he’d run against Trump, he replied, “Sure.” .” He said he felt no pressure not to run if Trump, as expected, entered the race. “If you believe you are the best person to be president of the United States, why does it matter who else runs?” Christie asked. “For me, it’s almost disqualifying to say, ‘I’ll adjourn to someone else.'” Then, as a further dig into Trump, he added, “We’re not talking about Dwight Eisenhower is here.”

But at the same time, when Noah asked Christie what he would do if Trump won the GOP nomination, he was completely unable to get a straight answer. “Will you support him when he becomes president?” the presenter asked directly.

“Look, if he doesn’t stop talking about this election as stolen, then I can’t support anyone who wags around saying our democracy doesn’t work,” Christie explained.

“So other than that, would you support him then?” Noah asked.

“No, I’m not going to go into every issue,” Christie replied, saying there are still “some things” that he still agree with Trump – and implying that he could still win back Trump’s vote. me. “But for me, this continuing obsession – falsely, untrue – that the election was stolen is just something I cannot support.”

Asked a Similar question by CNN’s Dana Bash this week, Christie was cuddled and sullen, saying he’d “see who [Trump] and what he said and how he behaved himself” when the time came, prompting Bash to reply, “By all accounts, that sounds like a bad word.”

At the end of his interview, Noah told Christie that he “hopes” he will run for president in 2024 for two reasons. “One, because you make things interesting,” he said. “And two, because you’re one of the few people on that stage who will say something real to Donald Trump.”
