Da Kun Gaming (DKG) won League of Legends: Wild Rift Horizon Cup 2021 today. They defeated ThunderTalk Gaming 4-2 in an intense final to become the champions of the first ever global competition for a MOBA game. The team will walk away with $100,000 of the $500,000 prize pool.
DKG and ThunderTalk are the only two representatives from China in the 10-team event. By taking first and second place respectively, they demonstrated China’s dominance in the field of mobile e-sports.
Both teams had a great run during the Horizon Cup to reach the finals. DKG and ThunderTalk both topped their respective groups without dropping a single game. DKG defeated Team Secret in the semifinals while ThunderTalk advanced to the finals after a close 3-2 victory over KT Rolster of South Korea.
The best of the seven grand finals was a tense match that established the perfect conclusion to the first year for Wild Rift electronic Sports. While DKG won the first two games, ThunderTalk returned to take the third and fourth games. However, DKG did not falter and won the last two matches to become the champion with a score of 4-2.

Horizon Cup is the first global e-sports event for Wild Rift and marks the end of the game’s pre-season. Riot Games has said it will roll out a broader eSports roadmap in 2022, culminating in a major world championship.
