Amidst the growing popularity of Cyberpunk 2077 following several updates, one modder is hoping to finish the VR mod next month.
A new kind of Cyberpunk 2077 mod coming soon from the same indie modder who made the REAL VR mod for Red Dead Redemption 2 and car theft 5. Luke Ross previously ran a poll on his Patreon page to give subscribers a chance to choose his next project, the winning game being Cyberpunk 2077.
A VR enthusiast, Luke Ross, created his VR tool called “VR Injection Framework” to create mods for games that previously didn’t have VR support. This includes first person games and hard conquer with third person games where he has to make a fake first person camera for the VR mod such as him did Mafia 3. At this point, modded games still use gamepads instead of VR controllers but provide a full VR head tracking experience. With Cyberpunk 2077 recent online trends and the deep immersion of the game, it’s no surprise that it was picked off the list.
In an interview with PCGamer, Luke Ross announced that the mod will be released soon. He is optimistic that the mod will be completed by January if nothing goes wrong. The game was already in first-person by accident, saving him the time and arduous task of creating a fake first-person camera. During the interview, he also mentioned that the REDengine 4 that the game uses is not too difficult to work with when creating VR mods. Meaning, it shouldn’t be any more complicated than the other engines he’s worked with. On the other hand, none of the engines are particularly VR-friendly and Cyberpunk 2077 still littered with glitches and bugs, which can cause some problems for modifiers.
Ross has expressed his concerns about the project based on the game’s instability, despite numerous patches and updates since launch. Ross said he expects the mod to be completed before the game’s next update, which fans will hopefully prioritize. customize cars in Cyberpunk 2077. No matter what, Ross’s system will support the rapid delivery of mods, as he mentioned in the interview: “Now my mod framework is reaching a certain level of maturity, I can release an average of one game per month”.
Many VR owners have expressed interest in the game’s potential for VR ahead of its release. However, with the disaster completely launched Cyberpunk 2077, it’s no surprise that CD Developer Projekt Red has no plans to create VR support for the game, even though it has announced plans for one. Upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion. Unless the developer changes his mind, this VR mod will be the only chance for players to experience the game on a flat screen.
