Introduction to the CSS exam:
The CSS exam or the Central Senior Service exam is a highly competitive exam conducted by the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) once a year (usually in February) concurrently throughout the territory of Pakistan. . The exam consists of 1200 points, 600 points for compulsory subjects and 600 points for electives. Optional subjects must be carefully selected from the designated pool as mentioned on the FPSC website.
Applications are usually opened on 1st October every year and the deadline for choosing your optional subject, submitting your application online and couriering the printed application to the FPSC office in Islamabad is usually the following day. October 30 every year.
The following are six compulsory subjects with 100 points each:
English essay
Precis and English composition
Islamic Studies (or Comparative Religion for Non-Muslims)
Pakistani affairs
