Cowboys will consider giving Ezekiel Elliott time off to recover from knee injury, according to reports

NS Dallas Cowboys has now lost three of his past four games, and injuries have not helped. According to a new report, the Cowboys are considering using one of their top offensive weapons as he continues to deal with a nagging injury. On Friday, ESPN’s Ed Werder reports that the Cowboys may run away again Ezekiel Elliott out as he continues to deal with a knee injury.
According to Werder, the injured substitute isn’t thought to be on the card at this point, but Elliott could be out next Thursday night when the Cowboys travel to New Orleans for the game. Saints. Elliott was listed on the injury report with a knee injury for the past three weeks, but was never assigned an injury. Pro Bowl comebacks have always felt good enough to get fit, but this injury seems to be something of a stretch.
Elliott led the Cowboys in dash speed with 720 yards and eight touches in 160 attempts. He’s had a sizzling start to the season, but has yet to play to his full potential at the end of the season. He dashed 25 yards and one-touched nine on Thanksgiving in his previous 36-33 overtime loss Las Vegas Raidersand hasn’t run more than 51 yards since Week 6.
While a decision has yet to be made, the Cowboys can afford to sit Elliott for a week or two if they so choose. Dallas has another blast back Tony Pollard, who dashed for 531 yards and one touchdown per 100 attempts, and also caught 29 passes in 256 yards. He even had a 100-yard kickback against the Raiders on Thursday. While Elliott is an asset to this team, the offense shouldn’t hurt too much if he misses a game or two. It remains to be seen what the Cowboys will decide to do, but it appears that Elliott’s knee injury is something they are monitoring closely.
