Cowboys’ DeMarcus Lawrence shows no signs of rust in ‘electrical’ comeback vs. Saints: ‘I’m happy to be back’

DeMarcus Lawrence not simply return, he comes back as if he never left the first place. NS Dallas Cowboys were delighted to finally see him back in action after being sidelined with a fractured foot in training following the opening game of the regular season, but they knew he would have to deal a bit rust after missing 10 matches. After all, he can’t be expected to immediately return to form after so much missed time, can he? There’s no way he’ll immediately hit match speed in over two months, right??
Wrong, and you know nothing, Jon Snow.
That’s a comforting feeling emanating from the Cowboys coaching staff regarding Lawrence right now, and especially defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who has taken on interim head coach duties against Saints in Week 13 while also planning the defense to include only his second game against Lawrence on his field. Quinn and head coach Mike McCarthy (who was absent after testing positive for COVID-19) made the legitimate decision to put Lawrence on the field, but it turned out he didn’t need to.
“I’m delighted to see him,” Quinn told the media after the team’s 27-17 win over the defense-owned New Orleans. “He was quick and violent with his hands and his play. I was expecting him to look worn out, but he didn’t. It was a tough night, chase and play. chipped at the edge to get going except in his attitude and mindset.
“Now I hope we can continue to line up weekly and weekly – as we are building and his playing time will increase.”
Lawrence was on the field only 37 of 70 saves against the Saints (53%), but his presence was early and throughout the competition. During the first attack for Taysom Hill and Co., Lawrence reminded NFL about his prowess as a roadblock as he capped what could have been an early run from Mark Ingram just two yards at second and 12th. That forced a third and 10 and when Hill stepped back to make a short throw Ty Montgomery, Lawrence was there to greet him with safety Jayron Kearse for a six-foot-long match.
Lawrence will build from there, going on to deliver a pivotal pass against Hill and, in the fourth quarter, nearly blow the game away – before finally being hit by three Cowboys intercepts in the quadrant there – when he passed the Guardian of the Saints and landed a sack on the Hill that was recovered by the defending teammate Carlos Watkins, which was initially awarded in real-time but was later overturned and considered an incomplete pass after formal evaluation.
And so Pro Bowler twice is a full-fledged review from adding a sack and takeaway on an evening that saw him impact the game without delay, and with the number of times limited, his presence also allows others to enjoy the rookie feeling Micah Parsons to decompose on demand.
“It’s electric,” he told reporters after the game. “Just to play with the men, at the level they’re playing, and to be out there and have a little impact on the game is great. I’m happy to be back. Thanks I can. play this soccer game that i love.
“So glad we went home with the win.”
Lawrence had a total of six pressures on the night, one more than he was during his impressive Week 1 outing in early September, and that made life difficult for Hill as a pass – the latter threw four interceptions during the night with only 19 finishes. 41 attempts gave it a low rating of 44.2.
He wants more, and he will get it, but to say that Lawrence is pleased with the way things are when he returns is an understatement.
Cowboys will now say their goodbyes knowing they will see a return to defensive tactics Trysten Hill from a one-match suspension in Week 14 against Washington football team, the ability to initiate defense settlement Neville Gallimore finish for the first time in 2021 and the possibility of a return of starting the right defensive end Randy Gregory – put them all together on the field at once for the first time this season. And if they can all hit the ground running like Lawrence did, then Quinn’s defense legitimately has a chance of being the best in the NFL.
And just a year after easily becoming one of the worst in franchise history.
