Courrèges Designer Nicolas Di Felice Is Casting at the Nightclub – WWD

Nicolas Di Felice rages after the party. Last September, after holding his first physical show with an audience since taking over as art director of the Space Age label, the designer celebrated with a bash pre-pandemic style attracted the likes of Emma Mackey and Tommy Dorfman.
It turned out to be the unofficial launch of Club Courrèges, a club night that he hopes to turn into a quarterly event, with friends like DJ and producer Erwan Sene, who perform. all of his soundtracks. In the meantime, Di Felice sketched out some of his crew to model looks for his girl before autumn collect.
If the photos of Spanish singer Bad Gyal, Polish DJ VTSS and choreographer Miles Greenberg look like they were taken outside a nightclub, it’s because he tapped Berlin-based photographer Spyros Rennt, famous for its crude images of nightlife, for look book shooting.
The clothes themselves stay true to Di Felice’s rather purist approach to Courrèges’ legacy. A highlighter black vinyl mini dress featuring the house’s signature swallow neckline, first appeared in 1964 – only now, it enhances cleavage, rather than framing the collar of an A-line dress.
“Now I feel more comfortable combining these codes, this legacy and also my own,” he explains. The designer reworked key pieces from his first three collections with a gender-flexible approach: boys and girls share a wardrobe of halter tops, flared vests, and blazers. silhouette and neat leather jacket with split collar.
Di Felice continued to refine the cut of each section, raising the collar to indicate a dart here, or a shoulder nod there. The combination of his meticulous approach and hedonistic spirit creates an energetic collection that doesn’t need the dance floor to shine.
