The investigation has effectively ended with Mr. Miller’s resignation… I am confident that we have maintained our process and reached the appropriate conclusion.
“The city understands the impact this situation is having on our employees and community,” Friend continued. “I want to make it clear that the city remains a welcoming place for all, and we do not tolerate any form of racism or other discrimination.”
While shopping at an outdoor mall in Newport Beach in February, Miller and his wife, Sandra, blamed an unidentified Asian-American couple for the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple who took the video approached the Millers in a garage and asked them to clarify their testimony.
“I like that we’re not their country, right?” Sandra Miller is heard talking to her husband.
The man and woman who took the video tried to explain to the Millers that they were not of Chinese descent.
“Yes, maybe. Could be,” said Roger Miller.
“America is a free country! Back to China! ‘ Sandra Miller shouted.
The Millers gave the couple a finger before they left in an Asian-made pickup truck.
