Contracts, signings, transfer whispers, Dale Finucane, Curtis Scott, Connor Watson

Canberra bad boy Curtis Scott is desperately searching for a new club as it is increasingly likely he has played his last game for the Raiders.

The 23-year-old center’s latest off-field scandal – where he was caught on CCTV footage punching a man multiple times in a Canberra club – will almost certainly end his time in the capital of the nation, only a year and a half after he started his green lime business.

Scott was left in Canberra as the rest of the club headed to Queensland for the month-long NRL bubble.

Now his agent is looking for a new home for his client.

“He is serving a two-week quarantine period in Canberra at the moment, he has a week to go and then the Raiders will make a decision on whether he will join the team in Queensland,” Brent said. Read told Triple M on Saturday.

“My feeling right now is that it’s not going to happen. Curtis Scott’s name has appeared on the radar of other clubs.

“My feeling is that he won’t necessarily play for Canberra again, and I think his management are looking for alternatives for him around the NRL.

“I don’t think they were bitten.”

FINUCANE RACE GROWS AS SMALL TYPES OF DECISIONS

The race for Dale Finucane’s signature already includes about half of the clubs in the NRL.

Melbourne still has hope of maintaining State of Origin services but the Storm is about to come to fruition that won’t be possible.

Senior News Corp correspondent Brent Read says Finucane will make a decision within the week and has one club standing above the rest.

“Dale had a meeting with his manager on Friday. Right now, there’s a new club for Dale,” Read said.

“He’s got six clubs for him, the Wests Tigers now also go to Dale Finucane.

“Newcastle gave up when they signed Dane Gagai but the tigers came, so he still has six clubs around him.

“When they missed (Tevita) Pangai, they reinforced their interest in Finucane. He sat down with his manager on Friday, they sat down and went through the offers.

“I expect a decision from Dale, if not by the end of the week then early next week. My money is in Cronulla at the moment, I suspect they are the frontrunners.

“He has a good relationship with Craig Fitzgibbon, they talked in the State of Origin camp,[Finucane’s]agent Andrew Purcell sent Nicho Hynes to Cronulla.”

The Sharks have signed Cameron McInnes to play lock next year, meaning Finucane will own a top spot for the Sharks.

SIGN UP FOR DOUBLE FACES KNIGHTS

Newcastle look set to re-sign Lachlan Fitzgibbon and livewire utility Connor Watson.

Watson has turned down a new Knight deal and is recently phoning rival clubs to gauge their interest in his services.

But Brent Read says the Knights have returned to the negotiating table with an offer they are confident can trap the ballplayer.

“They had a meeting with Connor Watson this week,” Read said.

“Connor Watson has publicly said that their first offer for him was not a target … but the club have had a meeting with him and they are quite confident they will complete a deal. deal with Connor Watson.

“And they’re pretty confident they’re about to re-sign Lachlan Fitzgibbon in two years.”
