Conor McGregor has chronic arthritis, asked NAC about the tape

In the wake of Conor McGregorWith the broken leg and his subsequent claims that the UFC was aware of the pre-existing injury, promotion president Dana White said ankle problems existed long before UFC 264.

In an interview with “Watters ‘World” on Fox News, White was asked if he knew McGregor was dealing with an injury. White later revealed that McGregor had been dealing with “chronic arthritis” for years, but did not directly address the Irishman’s claim that he nearly withdrew due to a stress fracture.

“(McGregor) has had ankle problems for the past few years,” White said. “He asked if he could bandage his ankles during this game and he got permission from the Nevada State Athletic Commission to do so and he then chose not to bandage them. I do not know why. He has chronic arthritis in his ankle.”

McGregor, 33 years old, broke his leg with seconds remaining in the first round of his three-part match on July 10 against rival Dustin Poirier. The fight was ended by the cage doctor and McGregor successfully undergone surgery tomorrow.

Right after that, McGregor released a selfie video where he told Dana White and UFC doctor Dr. Davidson knew about the stress fracture before UFC 264.

McGregor said: “I was injured in the fight. “People ask me when I broke my leg – when did it break? Ask Dana White. Ask the UFC. Ask Dr. Davidson, the UFC’s chief physician. They knew. My leg – I had a stress fracture in my leg going into that cage. There’s been debate about bringing that up because I’m playing without a shin pad, and I’m kicking.

His comments come days after NAC chief executive Bob Bennett said Friday the authorized agency does not know of any serious injury prior to combat.

Bennett told the Las Vegas Review-Journal: “If we knowingly have information that a fighter is not fit to fight, we will not let them compete. “It will go to a doctor and a doctor will make that decision as an expert.”

As for McGregor’s future, White is uncertain. There’s an estimated one-year timeline for McGregor’s recovery, and White is waiting to see how things play out.

“He’s going to take a year to recover from this game before he can come back, so I don’t know,” White said. “We’ll see. The fighting game is a tough game and the kid has cemented a massive legacy for himself and made a lot of money. We’ll see the rest of his career unfold. how come out.”

UFC 264 took place on Saturday, July 10 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The main card is streamed on pay-per-view after prelims on ESPN/ESPN+.
