Conan Chop Chop studio finally acknowledges and apologizes for latest delay

Just one a few weeks ago, we have shown that Conan Chop Chop, a Mighty Kingdom game published by Funcom, is long overdue. The roguelike OARPG was announced in 2019, but the studios delay games from September 2019 to 2020 to add full online multiplayer, then delayed to February 2020, then delayed to 2nd quarter of 2020, then delayed to end of 2020, then deferred to “early 2021. “It’s mid-July now, well past the beginning of 2021. As we’ve noted, neither company has said anything about the game since December of last year, although Jack MOP readers took notice of the company. ty briefly mentioned the game as a potential Q3 release in its June investor update.. But that information hasn’t actually been announced by Mighty Kingdom or Funcom anywhere else since the promises made last December.
Now, all these months later, the studios have finally issued a weird press release that hasn’t even been signed yet, so we’re not entirely sure exactly which company is releasing it. culpa is small, but it’s a small culpa, as the teams have said they won’t announce another release date until it’s completely ready.
“As you might have noticed, we are now past ‘early 2021’, and Conan Chop Chop is still unreleased. Now comes a point where we find ourselves having to reassure everyone that the game is in fact real, in development and not just an April Fools joke that never ends. In fact, Conan Chop Chop got console certification earlier this year and is one click away from the PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch stores. However, some traditions are not easily broken. Play testing showed the potential for further improvements to the gameplay, prompting Mighty Kingdom developer and publisher Funcom to intentionally delay the game again.
“And while we are well aware that some people will be disappointed by this news, perhaps even a little bewildered, we assure you that the positives outweigh the negatives. Just like one of our previous delays of adding online multiplayer to Conan Chop Chop, all other delays are aimed at further improving the game, whether it be by adding new features or modifying existing features. We also do not want the game to develop further to cause unnecessary fatigue.
“So, yes. We broke our promise and we regret it. However, this time, we can absolutely guarantee that there will be no more delayed announcements. Why? Because this time we won’t announce a new release date until the game is complete, tested, certified and ready to go. And because our announcer was promised this won’t be a full-time job.”
