That’s the decision of Melany Carlos, an Arlington picture guide with the Home of Colour, a sequence of skilled seasonal shade analysts. Carlos tied my hair up in a white, “Handmaid’s Story”-esque bonnet, and layered my neck with about two dozen of her 336 scarves, every a unique shade. In fast succession, she started whisking them away, like a magician pulling a tablecloth out from underneath a full place setting. Vibrant purple. Lilac. Darkish navy, then gentle. Bubble gum pink, mauve, fuchsia, strawberry. Cream, then pure white.
