Collin Morikawa overcame Louis Oosthuizen on Sunday to win the 2021 British Open championship (or the Open Championship, if you will officially) with a superb 4 under 66 in the final round that not only brought gave him the Claret Jug but also gave him some really interesting history in the game of golf.
It’s also some history where no one, including GOAT, Tiger Woods, has succeeded.
Morikawa, just 24 years old, is currently the only player to have won two different majors in his debut in those tournaments. He won the 2020 PGA Championship at Harding Park and then he won Sunday at Royal St. George’s in his first appearance at The Open Championship.
A moment @collin_morikawa will never forget.

Great week. Good leaderboard, great champion. Start to finish, have fun golfing on an exciting course. Worth the damn two years of waiting.

There is something special about the major when a guy not only wins but is clearly the best player of the tournament. Not really much “what will happen” here. Morikawa is simply the best.
Golfer Champion of the Year. A well-deserved title.
