We’ve made it to the penultimate weekend of the regular college football season, and the standings include some very spicy games that will go a long way toward determining division and general championships.
the state of Michigan will visit Ohio State in a big showdown in the Big Ten East, while Arkansas will go to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama team will win against SEC West. While, Oregon will put it College football Playoff hopes in the match with Utah.
Caesars Sportsbook has released early lines for the upcoming weekend. Let’s break down what bookmakers expect to happen in Week 12.
Michigan State at Ohio State (-20): Wow, look at the disrespect. The Spartans are in control of their own destiny in the race for the Big Ten East title but don’t seem to stand much of a chance against the Buckeyes playing one of the best football in the country. Sparta’s pass defense missed, and full-back Buckeyes CJ Stroud has emerged as a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate. This must be fun.
Arkansas in Alabama (-20): The Razorbacks are getting a lot of respect at Michigan State, and coach Sam Pittman’s men will have that on their minds at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Alabama passed through the state of New Mexico last weekend, but it will be interesting to see if the Crimson Tide can fix their offensive line woes as they ate a full cupcake last weekend.
Oregon in Utah (-3): This really jumped off the page. Oregon, a team that, as of now, is in the College Football Playoff Round according to the most recent standings, are a three-point dog ahead of a Utes team that has had some ups and downs throughout the season. Last week’s win over Washington State wasn’t exactly clear, but they still found a way to retreat – and cover – in the Eugene fog.
State of Iowa in Oklahoma (-6): The Cyclones were one of the biggest disappointments of the season but stunned the Sooners before that. The midfield situation in Norman caused the defense of Iowa State to foam at the mouth. The Sooners still have hope for CFP, but they’ll have to work through some issues this week and show it off against Matt Campbell’s team. Obviously, odds researchers suggest that may be easier said than done.
Other big games
Wake Forest in Clemson (-3.5): The Devils Deacons could take the ACC Atlantic with a win over the Tigers, but bettors seem to think the public will still give the Tigers the respect they’ve earned over the past decade. . Midfielder Sam Hartman and the rest of the Deac will cut their jobs against the defenses of these fully loaded Tigers.
SMU in Cincinnati (-12,5): Mustang will provide the biggest test for the Bearcats before the AAC Championship Game. They are 8-2, just destroyed UCF and ranked sixth nationally for total fouls with 498.7 yards per game. This game could turn into a shootout that would put a lot of pressure on the Bearcats midfielder Desmond Ridder.
Oklahoma State (-11) at Texas Technology: The Red Raiders fired coach Matt Wells earlier this season but claimed a big win over Iowa State last weekend. The Cowboys’ solid defense has Mike Gundy’s team in position to win the Big 12 and potentially reach the College Football Knockout Qualifiers. That will be power versus strength in Lubbock, one of the weekend’s most entertaining games.
