Colin Farrell Will Reprise The Role of The Penguin In The Spinoff Series Of ‘The Batman’ At HBO Max

We haven’t even seen it yet Batman not yet, but Warner Bros. called for more Colin Farrell as The Penguin. The actor has signed up to participate and executive produce a series of supporting films Batman, starred in a spin-off on HBO Max, Diversity report.

Farrell will debut in this role Batman, in which he will play the villain along with Robert Pattinson’Batman. The film will be released on March 4, 2022, with the streaming series launching some time after that. The untitled show will delve into The Penguin’s rise to power in the criminal underworld. The series was reported back in September, although Farrell was still unattached at the time.

Lauren LeFranc was tapped to write the script. Executive producers include Farrell, Batman director Matt Reeves and producer Dylan Clark. Warner Bros. Television. is also set to production.

On the television side, Farrell recently appeared in the AMC drama + Northern country and HBO’s True Detective. Most recently he ended up taking pictures on Inisherin’s Banshees, marking a reunion with In Bruges director Martin McDonough and co-star Brendan Gleeson.

Penguin, aka Oswald Cobblepot, is a member of the Batman Rogues Gallery, recognizable by his conical hat, monofocal, and series of killer umbrellas. The character has previously been played by actors such as Burgess Meredith, Danny DeVito and Robin Lord Taylor.

Penguin-focused series marks second spin-off from Batman ordered by HBO Max. The streamer made a TV series about the Gotham Police Department, which cast Joe Barton as the presenter. With Untitled Penguin Spinoff Series (not the show’s name), there’s a bunch of other DC live action shows running at HBO Max, like People of Peace with John Cena, Greg Berlanti’s Green Lantern series, as well as a Justice League Dark series by JJ Abrams.
