Colin Farrell Officially Joins HBO Max’s Penguin Spinoff With Batman

Colin Ferrell has signed on to star in the upcoming HBO Max spin-off of Batman, but what will the series be about?
Batman fans were treated to a pleasant surprise when they got their first good look at Colin Ferrell’s wild transformation into Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin in recent teasers and images for the film. led by Robert Pattinson Batman. But it turns out that the impact of the character can go even deeper than the impact on the skin. Now, viewers can expect to get even more of the grotesque villain thanks to an all-new side story.
After a potential side story featuring The Penguin was revealed a few months ago, it looks like the project has finally received the green light and its lead. Ferrell just signed on as star and executive producer for the upcoming unnamed series, cementing his influence in the former Gotham underworld. Batman even debuted. The series will stream exclusively on HBO Max, finding a home among the service’s remaining rich DC offerings, including another spin-off focusing on the Gotham City police department.
Batman Director Matt Reeves will join Ferrell as executive producer, along with Dylan Clark, who also produces the film. Lauren LeFranc, perhaps best known for producing a piece Agent of Marvel SHIELD as well as penning a number of comedy episodes about NBC agents Chuck, will write the series script. The spin-off is said to focus on The Penguin’s rise through the ranks in the criminal underworld of Gotham City.
Similar to how Marvel greenlit a Hawk Eye spinoff with Alaqua Cox as Echo before that show even started airing, it seemed like Ferrell’s performance made such a big impact on the set and in test screenings that the more senior people wanted more. Provides his superior energy in intro for Batman, it’s not hard to see why they think The Penguin might make its own series. Even after a few viewings, it can be easy to forget that the Irish actor was the one who captured the hearts of millions of people in this movie. Alexander under all that makeup.
Ferrell doesn’t seem to be slowing down in his film and television career, having appeared in recent hits like BBC’s Northern country and 2015 incest movie Lobster. Not to mention some of the upcoming projects he’s working on, even beyond Batman and its subsections. It’s good to see such a prolific actor still creating new things even after all this time.
As it turns out, though, The Penguin’s series would work well on HBO Max, especially with great shows like Harley Quinn and much awaited spinoff of Suicide Squad starring John Cena as Peacemaker. Here’s hoping the wait for this isn’t as hard as it used to be Batman.
