CLEVELAND (WJW) – Cleveland Metropolitan School District CEO/CEO Eric Gordon announced on Monday that mask will be required indoors for students, staff and guests whether they have họ vaccination or not vaccinated in the first 5 weeks of the school year 2021-2022.
In a YouTube video, Gordon said classes will be live five days a week, with virtual courses still available for families who want to enroll instead.
He said the decision to require masks was based on Centers for Disease Control updated guidance for schools, which recommends that all students and unvaccinated adults wear face masks, and review Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s signing of House bill 244 requires equal treatment to anyone vaccinated or unvaccinated.
CMSD will also keep 3 feet social distancing recommendations and use non-touch thermometers, Gordon said.
Most students are no longer required to wear uniforms and Gordon said more information on that will be released soon.
