Chucky renewed for season 2 on USA and SYFY

The evil doll TV series, Chucky, has received a second season refresh on USA Network and SYFY, slated to premiere next year.
SYFY’s new TV series about classic horror icons from Child’s play horror franchise, Chucky, which only debuted on screens in October but has been refreshed for a second season, just as the much-anticipated finale airs. Confirmation comes from creator Don Mancini that Chucky will indeed live to kill another day.
The series is based on the icon Child’s play The original slasher film appeared in the 1980s. The film follows the events of a typical small American town being terrorized after a vintage ‘Good Guy’ doll finds its way to be sold and a series of murders. Creepy people ensue, uncovering dark secrets about the supposedly idyllic town. The series’ creator, Mancini, who transcribed all seven films in the series and directed season 3, is the one who adapt his movies for Chucky TV series. He also served as a host and executive producer.
Mancini said in a statement that he and his team are “delighted to begin pulling the strings in the second season of mayhem,” before going on to thank studio UCP along with SYFY and Network USA ( both under the umbrella of NBCUniversal) for support. The creator also “passed on” a message allegedly from Chucky, saying, “”This isn’t over, not a long shot. You better take a look at yourself in 2022! Fans who have just enjoyed the show’s finale can be reassured by the news that a second season is slated to premiere next year, although a specific release date has yet to be announced.
Aghast Chucky is a character that keeps reappearing. Through Child’s play never been the biggest hit horror movie, the 33-year legacy of Chucky, or Charles Lee Ray, is proof that he has a gift for sticking with people. The doll is an iconic horror villain and the sole reason behind the enduring popularity of the films and their affiliates. The TV series made the smart decision to bring back the original voice of the killer doll throughout the series, Brad Dourif.
Dourif has done the not-so-easy feat of actually bringing the doll to life and also cleverly bringing in the comedic side of the character. Another veteran of the franchise, Tiffany Valentine – another murder doll who is also Chucky’s wife – is also back, along with the film’s original theme. The combination of these old-fashioned original elements has served to create a success Chucky series that make old fans happy.
The quick renewal for the second season is no surprise, because Chucky brought in millions of viewers USA Network and SYFY, even becoming one of the top two new cable series for viewers aged 18-49 (the other being SYFY’s Resident foreigners, which was also renewed for a second season). The format of a TV series has served the story well, allowing for a deeper exploration of the characters and an extended reign of terror for Chucky. Whether season 2 will continue the story of season 1 or not is so far unclear, but more details are sure to be announced soon.
Chucky will be available to stream in full on Peacock from December 1, 2021.
