Chicago police share video of gunman who shot, injured 2 officers dispersing crowd shooting fireworks in Austin

At about 1:45 a.m. within the 100-block of North Lengthy Avenue, police mentioned a feminine commander and a male sergeant had been on patrol when police mentioned they tried to disperse a big crowd taking pictures fireworks. The commander and sergeant then heard photographs and felt ache, police mentioned.
The commander was shot within the foot and the sergeant was shot within the leg. Each had been transported to Stroger Hospital in good situation, police mentioned.

“As you realize, there’s been a number of giant crowd gatherings tonight, a number of celebratory fireworks going off, sort of spontaneous,” Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown mentioned. “They had been dispersing a crowd once they heard photographs and felt ache. Undecided in the event that they focused or whether or not this was folks celebrating taking pictures within the air, taking pictures indiscriminately.”
A witness who desires to stay nameless mentioned, “And so they had been standing by one automotive, and there was a loud pop and everybody began working and the police officer fell to the bottom….After which the opposite police officer had … and everybody was screaming… somebody was screaming ‘they shot the police officer, they shot the police officer.'”
