Chicago gun buyback 2021: Saint Sabina Church initiative begins Monday, Fr. Michael Pfleger says

CHICAGO (WLS) — St. Sabina Church kicks off its gun buyback initiative on the heels of a violent weekend in Chicago.

The South Aspect church shall be shopping for weapons off the road on weekdays till 4 p.m. Anybody 25 or youthful can flip in working firearms anonymously and relying on the kind of gun they flip in.

They will get $200 for handguns or assault rifles, $100 for rifles, and $20 for high-capacity magazines.

These weapons will then be turned over to the sixth Police District, the place they are going to be destroyed.

“Hopefully a possibility to achieve a teenager and assist them perceive the worth of their life, assist them perceive they’ve a complete future forward of them,” St. Sabina Pastor Fr. Michael Pfleger mentioned.

This initiative comes after one more mass capturing during which five men were injured early Sunday morning in the Austin neighborhood

St. Sabina’s gun buyback program begins at 8 a.m. and can proceed every weekday.
