Charger in Bengals how to watch: TV, streaming, odds, predictions as Joe Burrow takes on Justin Herbert

When the charger has a ball

The Bengals’ defense has been significantly more difficult after Week 10 bye. After scoring 75 points in their last two games before goodbye, the Bengals dropped 13 points against Raiders and 10 points in a win over Pittsburgh last week. Divergence and an overwhelming defense are two keys to Cincinnati’s recent defensive increase. The unit was led by the linebacker Logan Wilson (89 tackles, four interceptions), safe Jessie Bates III, and finish the defense Trey Hendrickson (10.5 sacks) and Sam Hubbard (seven sacks). That’s not good news for the Chargers defending team that finished 29th in NFL in scoring, 29th in passes, 31st in third shot performance and 24th in red zone efficiency. Chargers’ pass defense, led by Chris Harris, Derwin James, and rookie Asante Samuel Jr., is the strength of the unit, as it currently ranks fifth in the NFL for the least number of passing yards allowed. Los Angeles is getting another solid campaign from passersby Joey Bosa, who leads the Charger with 7.5 sacks. Also, the Charger is getting a career year from the carrier Kyzir White, who has scored 86 tackles, two interceptions, two fumbles and one dismissal this season.

Second of the Chargers will have to join their match against a formidable trio of rookies of the Bengals Ja’Marr Chase, second year extension Tee Higgins and veterans Tyler Boyd. Higgins, who had a 32-yard touchdown in last week’s win over Pittsburgh, has recently been the beneficiary as Chase has received more attention from the opposing defense. Like Herbert did with Cook, Burrow has found success with tight endings CJ Uzomah, who is second on the Bengals with five touchdowns.

In many ways, running in reverse Joe Mixon is the X-factor for Bengali crime. Mixon inflicted a 165-yard career-high hit against the Steelers, including 117 yards in the first half. Expect the Bengals to eat Mixon early and often aim to exploit the Chargers’ defense.

The Chargers’ defense has averaged over 31 points per game in their last seven outings. Unless it can produce some first leg, Los Angeles’ streak of at least 24 points is likely to reach eight games after Sunday’s game. Herbert and the Chargers’ offense could catch up with Burrow’s offense, but their defense could finally be undone not only on Sunday, but for the 2021 season as well.
