Recently, Don Schmocker, co-founder and lead artist at Okomotive, made an announcement about FAR: Tide Change, says it will launch on March 1, 2022, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. He added that the game will be a vehicle adventure that follows a boy named Toe traveling on his ship through a flooded post-apocalyptic world.

According to Schmocker, the developers at Okomotive have received a lot of positive feedback from players about how FAR: Lone Sails’ The “meditative, reflective nature” resonated with them. So the developers wanted to maintain that atmosphere again while changing things up in the sequel. The aim is that the sequel will provide a more “thought-provoking experience” for players to enjoy in the new game.

For the sequel, Schmocker said that Okomotive wanted to expand the scene by offering something with stormy weather and new locations, such as flooded cities. The goal of this new environment is to give fans and new players an experience that’s chock full of new puzzles and ship mechanics for you to master. To explore this new setting, players will use New vehicle of the game, Ship of Toes, to go with sails, oars and an engine.

Like the first game, the story gives FAR: Tide Change will not be told to the player but must be found. For the sequel, Okomotive wrote much of the story and built the world in pre-production, which allowed the developers to design the environment for the story. This game uses the same environmental storytelling method as games like Hyper Light Drifter.

According to Schmocker, players will be able to learn the game’s hidden story by uncovering sunken treasures, buildings, flood victims, and any relics from the past. All of these items will tell an in-game story, and the purpose is to form a strong link between the player and the game’s world. The flooded setting also adds verticality to the game with a new level of exploration as the player’s journey takes them above and below the water in the game.

FAR: Tide Change scheduled for release on March 1, 2022, for PC, PS4, PS5. Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
