Chainsaw artist Della Meredith turns ordinary wood into art

DICKINSON, Texas – Some artists use brushes and canvas – but Della Merediths’ preferred medium is much louder. This unique artist uses chainsaws to transform old wood into incredible works of art.

Meredith, who lives near the Texas Gulf Coast, first got into the woodworking business by carving tiki and pelicans. But in 2016, she went viral when she carved a 5-foot-tall sculpture of former Houston Texans player JJ Watt. Since then, she has received requests to create custom artworks for people and businesses across the country.

She also works to transform trees devastated by Hurricane Laura or frozen Februarys into impressive woodwork. So far, Meredith has turned ancient trees into detailed tiki, angels, eagles, mermaids, hawks, bears and more.
