Casualty Ward, Mitchell Moses, Eels, back fracture, injuries, return dates, teams, State of Origin, Blues

Half-back eel Mitchell Moses was ruled out of Thursday night’s clash with the Raiders due to a broken back bone in the opening minutes of his State of Origin debut.

It was revealed on NRL 360 that the player suffered a broken bone in the first 10 minutes of Origin III, when Maroons backball pitcher Felise Kaufusi hit Moses as he passed the ball.

Moses played for 70 minutes as his Blues lost the third game of the series.

Initially, Mitchell was rested for Eels’ Round 18’s clash with the Titans before he underwent a track scan in Queensland that revealed the extent of the damage.

Parramatta is confident the injury will heal naturally but Eel has yet to confirm an exact timeframe for his return.

Moses sidelined with root injury | 02:35

They are in the race for a final ticket and an injury to their star full-back could lead to an NRL reduction for Broncos playmaker Anthony Milford.

Milford has been linked with Parramatta and due to Moses’ injury, he may find himself there sooner rather than later.

NRL 360’s Paul Kent said: “It makes sense because we don’t know how long Moses will be off.

“We argued last week about the value Milford brings to a team, this is what he brings.

“Parra, atta believe they are in the upper hand, they don’t want to go through the rest of this season without a top quality player.

“I think Milford is a logical decision if you can get him at the right price.”

Milford can join Eel before the transfer deadline on August 1.
