Candice Bergen appears at the virtual town hall meeting of the Vernon Chamber of Commerce, BC – Okanagan

The Leader of Canada’s Official Opposition plans to meet Vernon, BC business owners and nonprofits through a virtual town hall meeting.

Candice Bergen will be participating in an online event with Vernon Chamber of Commerce members, Monday, February 28, from 12 to 1 p.m.

“We appreciate Ms. Bergen taking the time to meet with our members as it is important for elected officials to hear directly from entrepreneurs about the challenges they face during the pandemic. and moving towards recovery,” Dan Proulx, General Manager of the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce, said in a press release.

With more than 600 members, Proulx says the council is committed to connecting the local business community with people who can influence policy.

Candice Bergen was first elected to the House of Commons in 2008 and re-elected in 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2021, representing Portage-Lisgar, Man.

From 2013 to 2015, Bergen served as foreign minister for social development in the Conservative government. In November 2015 she was elected to the Opposition Cabinet as a critic of natural resources and has since held the post of leader and deputy leader of the Conservative party.

She is currently the leader of the official Opposition Party and interim leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. Before entering politics, she worked in the financial planning industry.
