The lawyer for an Ontario man charged with falsely claiming to have dedicated terrorist acts as a member of the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant says his consumer is relieved after the cost was withdrawn.

Shehroze Chaudhry was arrested by the RCMP and charged in September 2020 with perpetrating a hoax associated to a terrorist exercise following what the Mounties described as a prolonged investigation.

The cost stemmed from what the police on the time stated had been quite a few media interviews through which the 26-year-old from Burlington, Ont., claimed to have travelled to Syria in 2016 to affix ISIL and dedicated acts of extremism.

These interviews had been revealed in a number of media shops, aired on podcasts and featured in a tv documentary, the RCMP alleged, all of which raised public security considerations.

However Chaudhry’s lawyer Nader Hasan stated in a press release on Sunday that the cost has been withdrawn, including his consumer “maintains his innocence with respect to this and another prison cost.”

“Mr. Chaudhry’s resolution to enter right into a peace bond and stay on situations for a further 12 months is an acknowledgment that he made errors,” Hasan added. “However these had been errors borne out of immaturity not sinister intent. And positively not prison intent.
