Canadian musician’s viral TikTok video expresses his displeasure at the Air Canada flight debacle – Montreal

It’s a catchy and original song, but there’s definitely a story behind it.

Caity György said a few weeks ago that she was in New York for the weekend.

She was scheduled to fly back to Montreal on an Air Canada flight on Sunday, June 19, but a few hours before the flight, she said, she received an email that the flight was canceled due to air traffic control.

“I was waiting in the lobby at the hotel we just checked out of and tried to call her,” György said. “But I tried calling her twice and it didn’t go through once – it just said our phone lines are so busy we can’t take your call right now.”

George says a few hours later she received an email that her flight had been rescheduled for the following morning.

“I’m out of my hotel, what should I do?” she said.

I don’t have a hotel, I don’t have a meal or anything like that. I was kind of at a loss.”

The musician said she tried calling Air Canada again to inquire about meal and hotel vouchers.

After nearly three hours on the line, she said she got in touch with an employee who told her to file a lawsuit.

Air passenger rights lawyer Dr. Gabor Lukacs says György is owed compensation.

“They owe her $1,000 under passenger protection regulations because the flight was delayed by more than nine hours,” he said.

So while George was waiting for her flight, she did a TikTok.

With over 800,000 views and counting, she said she made the video to relieve stress.

Global News reached out to Air Canada about the incident but had received no comment as of press time.

Meanwhile, George says she has filed a claim as suggested by the airline worker and is awaiting a response.
