After their most successful season in nearly 30 years, Montreal Canada got off to a rough start to the 2021-22 season. Through 23 games, Montreal has only 14 points – ranked fifth at least in the tournament – with a record of 6-14-2. The team’s goal difference minus 29 is the worst in the Eastern Conference and second worst in NHL. The bad start has now led to a major shake-up in the main office.

NS The club announced Sunday that General Manager Marc Bergevin, Assistant GM Trevor Timmins and Chief Communications Officer Paul Wilson have all been fired, effective immediately. In a statement, club owner Geoff Molson thanked the trio for their time in Montreal and their efforts in last year’s Stanley Cup final.

“On behalf of myself and the organization, I’d like to thank Marc Bergevin, Trevor Timmins and Paul Wilson for their passion and attachment to our Club over the years. The work continues. Their game has allowed our fans to experience many memorable moments, including last summer’s playoffs culminating in the Stanley Cup Finals. We wish them well-deserved success in their journey.
