Can Helicopters Shine During the Pokemon GO Power Plant Event?

The mysterious door in Pokemon GO is about to open with the Power Plant event and with it comes a number of new Pokemon including Helioptile and Heliolisk, leaving everyone wondering if they can be shiny in-game.
Pokemon GO’s The Power Plant event kicks off on Wednesday, January 19, at 10 a.m. local time, resulting in an increase in the number of spawning Pokemon that will be found in power plants in the main game.
In addition to the increased number of Pokemon such as Magnemite, Electabuzz and Porygon, Helioptile and thus Heliolisk will also appear in the game.

How to get Helioptile and Heliolisk
Fittingly, Helioptile is a Generator Pokemon of the Electric/Normal type. First introduced in Generation VI, Helioptile evolves into Heliolisk in the main games that use Sunstone and retain Electric/Normal typing.
When it comes to bringing in Helioptile Pokemon GO, they will spawn in the wild during the Power Plant event, although we don’t know how rare they will be. Since they are being promoted as an important part of the event, it is expected that they will be quite popular.
Helicopter Encounters will also be available in certain Field Studies as a bonus, so make sure to spin multiple Stops and complete Field Research for an extra chance.
To get the evolved Heliolisk, you will need 50 Helicopter Candies and one Sun Stone. You may already have accumulated a lot of Sunstones by now, but you can get them as rare items when spinning Stops or more commonly as part of a reward for a sequence of seven Poke Stop spins day.
Once you have 50 Helicopter Candies and Sunstones, you can easily evolve it into Heliolisk.
Can helicopters be shiny in Pokemon GO?
The Power Plant event in Pokemon will showcase some of the Pokemon that are available in shiny form, including Voltorb, Trubbish, etc.
Unfortunately, Helioptile and Heliolisk won’t launch in shiny shapes alongside their regular versions.
This shouldn’t be a huge surprise, as most of the shiny Pokemon that come later are tied to events rather than to events. Pokemon GO launch. There are some exceptions to this rule, but this is the norm for the most part.
Hopefully Helioptile and Heliolisk will be added to the game in the near future, but in the meantime you should focus on catching as many as possible during the Power Plant event.
