The latest Call of Duty: Warzone update brings not only the frenetic Festival event, but also the folklore creature Krampus, who is ruining multiplayer matches.

With the festive season in full swing, many games are getting fun. Live service headers like Fortnite, Fate 2, New world, and more are introducing special limited-time events around the winter and holiday seasons. Many are offering special missions, playlists, and rewards in the coming month, such as New world this gave birth to a Yeti called the Winter Wanderer to the snow-covered land of Aeternum.

Call of Duty are also getting into the holiday spirit, following the December 16 update, adding a Festival Enthusiasm event for BattlefieldService of Part 1. In addition to new rewards, challenges, and game modes, the update also brings the Krampus folk creature. The evil creature’s goal is to actively hunt players in both Battlefield and Vanguard multiplayer with the promise of a permanent reward for those who can knock it down. Staying true to its roots, Krampus is causing more chaos in gameplay sessions and is more of a terror to players than was initially expected.

It seems Call of Duty Warzone Fans began to become frustrated with Krampus’ antics and took to social media to vent. According to Activision, Krampus selects targets at random, although it is affected by those who find a lump of coal from the crate. Despite that, many felt the monster was too distracting and actively made players win.

One Call of Duty: Warzone SubReddit user Dyynomight started the issue with a new thread demanding immediate removal of Krampus. He went on to say that the monster was a sponge that ended up ruining a great game that they claimed was in the “top five situations”. Unfortunately for Dyynomight, Krampus joined the hunt, overwhelming them while they were trying to fend off real enemy players.

Others have begun posting similar feelings, with some having to deal with the monster multiple times in the same match. Others have tried to offer suggestions on how to improve the event. A hint is that Krampus will completely disappear in the later parts of the match, similar to when the Gulag closes. Another player mentioned that Krampus should be sidelined in that match after a player knocks it down instead of repeatedly respawning.

What’s interesting is that it’s not just normal players that are affected by Krampus. In what could be an oversight, the Festive Fervor update has even been applied to private matches in Call of Duty: Vanguard, which means professional Call of Duty eSport player are also experiencing these disappointments. With the CDL Challenge Cup coming up this weekend, Krampus could ruin competitive matches unless Raven can adjust quickly.

Call of Duty: Warzone currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
