Bumble Match Turns in Andrew Taake, Capitol Rioter Accused of Hitting Cops With Metal Whip

When engaging in criminal activity, it is usually necessary to try to escape from the scene after a while. But the riot of the accused Capitol Andrew Taake, apparently tried to show a hot date first.

A criminal complaint on Friday against Taake complained that the Houston native had approached police officers with a metal whip and spray on January 6 and then boasted about it on the Bumble dating program. He is currently facing six charges related to the attack. There were allegations first reported by HuffPost.

The FBI said they received advice on Jan. 9 from a Bumble user who shared screenshots of the exchange. In it, Taake said he was “sprinkled with peppers, tear gas and beaten with sticks to keep quiet there.”

This is despite the fact that social media posts and body tapes of the camera showing him with a metal whip and attacking the officers before spraying the pepper spray on them, authorities say. The criminal complaint states that Taake eventually made his way inside the Capitol, and surveillance footage showed a whip held to his side.

The FBI says Taake’s current location on the Bumble app was recorded as Alexandria Virginia while he was in DC, while his profile noted that he lives in Houston. Flight records showed he flew from Houston to Baltimore / Washington airport on Jan. 5 and recorded his phone number in the flight documents.

After consulting with the FedEx driver, he delivered the package to his Houston home in May, and from Taake’s observation, the federations believed they had found a match.

Taake is accused of obstructing a formal trial, obstructing police, disorderly conduct at a limited property, causing chaos at the Capitol, and two counts of assaulting officers.

He is not the first Capitol rebel to be found through Bumblebee. New York Robert Chapman was arrested in April then also boasted about his participation in the program and eventually changed his Facebook profile picture to a photo from inside the Capitol.
