BTS will cover SEA tournaments during the 2021-22 DPC season

Beyond the Summit (BTS) announced on Twitter that they will host Southeast Asia (SEA) regional tournaments in the 2021-22 season of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC). As with the other five regional tournaments, the competition will begin on November 29, 2021, and award a total prize pool of $280,000 USD, with $205,000 for the Upper Division and $75,000 for the Lower Division. For this season, BTS will now trend SEA after having previously held these tournaments in North America. The six tournament organizers for the six regions of the DPC 2021-22 season have now been finalized.

BTS moves to SEA DPC for the 2021-22 season

BTS tweeted that they are excited to announce Southeast Asia coverage for DPC 2021-22. As an organizer, BTS is not a new name in the region, as BTS has hosted nine seasons of BTS Pro Series: SEA over the years. The ninth series just ended recently and BOOM Esports became the champion of the tournament after defeating Polaris Esports in the final.

PGL hosted the SEA DPC tournament last season.

The following are the six organizers of the 2021-22 DPC:

  • North America – ESL

  • South America – E-Sports 4D

  • Western Europe – DreamLeague

  • Eastern Europe – Epic Esports Event

  • China – Perfect World

  • Southeast Asia – Beyond the Summit

The organizers from last season, One Game Agency (OGA) and PGL, will not include regional seasons in the upcoming season.

At the time of this writing, BTS has yet to announce the date and format of the SEA DPC Open Qualifiers. Unless one team withdraws from the tournament, two teams will enter the Lower Division from the open qualifiers. In each group, there will be a total of 8 teams competing in a round robin. Lower Bloc teams will battle for a spot in Upper Block, while Upper Bloc teams will compete for DPC points and the possibility of qualifying for the first Major.

The organizers of the three Majors and the locations of these events are usually announced after the conclusion of the regional tournaments.
