A 28-year-old British man has dodged murder charges because he no longer knows about drugs and doesn’t know what he’s doing.
However, Jake Notman, 28, who stabbed his girlfriend more than 30 times and then used her car, admitted manslaughter in the death of 25-year-old Lauren Bloomer, according to reports. Birmingham Live.
The court accepted the argument from Notman’s defense team that after eating cannabis brownie, Notman is going through a “psychic episode” in which he doesn’t know “what’s real and what’s fake” and is “completely out of touch with reality.”
The tragedy began with the two celebrating the release of the PlayStation 5 console in November 2020 by purchasing cannabis macaroons, which the British refer to as “space cakes”.

Bloomer was beaten, strangled, stabbed more than 30 times and ran over.
“Lauren Bloomer had an affair with this defendant. He was very addicted to marijuana, ate a cannabis marzipan. Tragically, it looked like something out of the movie ‘Scream,’ said prosecutor Deborah Gould.
Bloomer made a call during the attack, it recorded much her death
“Lauren had her phone activated, she had no idea she was going to record her murder,” Gould said.
The recording shows Notman shouting his intention to kill Bloomer.

Andrew Fisher, defending Notman, said, “They had a celebratory party and decided to part with weed marzipan. Don’t really drink or smoke. Tragically, it all went horribly wrong.”
Fisher said Notman asked Bloomer to “kill him several times before he horribly killed her in the most gruesome way imaginable. Jake Notman endured another episode of flowery psychosis. ”
Notman was convicted eight years and eight months for manslaughter, according to Evening Standard.
The judge said Notman killed Bloomer in “the most unexpected and terrifying way.”

“I’m pretty sure that the mental state Jake Notman was in was at least in part a reaction to the marijuana he was drinking,” she said.
“There is a clear lesson… that marijuana can be very dangerous. It is an illegal drug for good reason,” she said.
In her sentencing, she said she accepted that Notman, who had no prior record, expressed remorse.
