Boy, 9, found dead in Georgian Bay area, no suspected third party negligence

A nine-year-old child was found dead after a search in the Georgian Bay area, police said.

Police said Everett Freeman of Seguin Township was camping with his family at Totem Pole Bay on Huckleberry Island in Georgian Bay waters when he was reported missing.

The police said he was last seen around 3 p.m. on Friday.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) used their naval unit, canine units, air services and underwater recovery in the search. Local emergency services and the Coast Guard also helped.

However, he was found dead on Saturday night. Police said there was no suspicion of third-party negligence.

“The West Parry Sound OPP would like to thank everyone who volunteered and assisted with this investigation,” police said.
