Bowie cop Ernest Stanley convicted of office misconduct

In August 2018, Stanley – who had just finished his shift but was still wearing his uniform – tried to overtake a vehicle in Elder Oaks Avenue and Excalibur Road, prosecutors said. Stanley called the backup but didn’t wait for them to arrive before approaching the two-passenger vehicle, officials said. Stanley asked the driver to get out of the car, but the driver fled instead. Prosecutors said the officer fired three times, once in the back of the car.
