The community has been looking forward to the arrival of the fifth player of BOOM Esports for a long time. Gary Ongko, the organization’s CEO, shared updates regarding the team’s search for a fifth player, and it was ultimately selected to accompany Tino.
It was perhaps Tino’s biggest break of his career to date, having previously played for Southeast Asian teams in the 2-3rd tier circuit. His 2021 DPC was devoted to Omega Esports, where the team performed well in the first regional tournament and was promoted to the Upper Division. However, Omega Esports couldn’t match the performances of the top teams at the second regional tournament. In addition, the team also did not perform well in the regional qualifiers of The International 10 (TI10).
Tino played as an Execration reserve player in multiple post-TI10 events after Omega Esports disbanded its roster.
Tino joins a revamped BOOM Esports roster considered to be one of the strongest in the region, and Mushi also joins as coach. Despite playing with a substitute, the team recently became consecutive BTS Pro Series champions. Following on from last season, the organization has been looking for an international roster and now has a predominantly Filipino roster, with Fbz being an exception. Fbz is also the only player to retain the typical team of the previous season.
With BOOM Esports finishing seventh in last season’s second regional tournament, the new team will begin its campaign in the 2021-22 DPC Lower Division. A place in the top two and qualifying for the Upper Division in the second regional tournament will be targets for the new BOOM Esports roster.
