Bodies Bodies Bodies gets its first trailer, sped up and soaked in blood

Horror movie fans are often quite worried about gore scenes. After seeing so many directors go down harsh paths with the most elements of bodily fluids – Stanley Kubrick unleashes a tidal wave of blood from the elevator in The Shininglet’s say, or Coralie Fargeat sends her characters in Revenge about a murder chase that turns a beautiful glass house into a Skate N Slide with blood – it’s hard to get emotional about an open vein anymore.

First trailer for A24’s Agencies Agency Agencies offers a change from that perspective, not by trying to drown the viewer in more blood than they’ve ever seen, but by turning it into one of the more surprising escalations in a stretch referrals are inherently just escalation. Agencies Agency Agencies, which premiered at the 2022 SXSW media show with a strong initial critical response, follows seven friends and fellow travelers to a detached house where they plan to party. Before long, they begin a social game that features sharp killer deductive reasoning along the lines of Mafia, Wolf Manor Between us. Obviously, things didn’t go as planned. The trailer shows the party rapidly escalating from slap to cry, inevitably with the house losing power and the characters losing cell phone service, as the murder game comes true.

“The game is familiar but with deadly stakes” is a mode that is quite familiar to modern horror movies, from Escape room arrive Ready or not? arrive The werewolf inside. But Agencies Agency Agencies The trailer stands out because players quickly deter young people with eclectic styles on Spring Breakersdrug and alcohol holiday-style, and become bloody, tearful victims – huddled around a dark house and attacking each other with Gen-Z buzzwords. (Lee Pace, the only 40-year-old in a cast of 20 like Pete Davidson, Amandla Stenberg and Maria Bakalova, emphasizes Spring Breakers Felt.) Blood started to appear, without a trace but running down everyone’s faces and arms, surprisingly at the beginning of the trailer. Then it’s at the stairs and wiping the clothes. Then it stays on the weapon, and sprays through the air, and takes over the screen.

Even for horror fans, the trailers in this trailer are plenty – the tone, pacing, level of violence, and especially the amount of health all ramp up at a furious pace. It was a promise that director and actress Halina Reijn would take this film to extremes, and in quick, messy ways.

Agencies Agency Agencies will premiere in theaters on August 5, 2022.
