Johnson told police he came home at 6 p.m. to find her car gone, according to a detailed typed affidavit Johnson gave a private investigator in 1999. Johnson reported that he did the laundry, went to bed, and around 1:30 a.m. The notice said her closet door was closed, opened, and found his fiancée’s body, with no visible blood or wounds. Police said there was no forced entry and there were no obvious signs of a struggle.
