Users attempting to play games associated with Activision Blizzard’s Battle.net launcher this evening may have experienced server issues. This is due to a DDoS attack on the service.
In a string social media posts, the company shared that it was aware of the ongoing issues before explaining that its service had been hacked.
For some users, the issue has prevented them from fully starting the Battle.net launcher, while others play Call of Duty, World of Warcraftand other Blizzard games experienced various connectivity issues, including getting kicked out of the game.
A distributed denial of service attack, commonly known as a DDoS, is a malicious tactic that sends too many requests to a service to cause it to malfunction.
Currently, Blizzard has not shared a schedule for when the issue will be fixed.
