It would be wise for workers to be using their smart home devices for work, said Pardis Emami-Naeini, a researcher at the University of Washington’s Security and Privacy Research Laboratory. They need to familiarize themselves with the privacy and security of smart home devices first to understand what they may need to do to best protect their and their company’s data. They should also regularly update the device, if it doesn’t update automatically, to prevent additional security holes, the same way they do with their smartphones.
