A fan of the hit series Better Call Saul has recreated some key scenes from the series as a pixelated game for the old-school Game Boy console.
The ongoing series from AMC Better call Saul has recently spawned a plethora of fan-made content as the finale fast approaches. This ranged from online theories about how the series will end, what seemingly insignificant actions by characters might mean, to artwork and animation created to transport protagonist Saul Goodman to other worlds Ace Attorney.
One of those recent fan projects was recreated instead Better call Saul itself as a game that has the look and feel of a title made for the classic Game Boy console. This doesn’t take the form of a finished game to actually play, but the clip gives an idea of how this game would have played across multiple levels and genres if it had ever been released.
The video created by the artist Lumpy Touch shows different levels for this Better call Saul game, each following a different genre and all fitting the old-school theme. One of the first “playable” segments seems to be best on a Game Boy cartridge and shows Saul Goodman being controlled via a platformer. As the clip progresses, the genre changes several times, ranging from a sniping level to a scene you’re pulled straight out of Punch out Playing Saul against Howard Hamlin.
This isn’t the first pop culture content that Lumpy Touch has reimagined in a classic pixel format. They also recreated the disease movie as a minesweeper titled clone Sweeper’s disease, for example. Similar to this recent reimagining of Better call Saul, much of Lumpy Touch’s content is primarily comedic while also showing a high level of talent at crafting and animating pixel art. However, it doesn’t appear that many of the artist’s creations will ever see a real release, even as they focus on playstyles. So a full version Better call Saul The game is probably not on Lumpy Touch’s to-do list.
With the series finale imminent, this likely won’t be the final track Better call Saul Fan content is coming within the next month or so. However, this is still one of the most impressive pieces that fans have shared to highlight some memorable moments from the series. If the finale is as impressive as previous season 6 episodes of Better call Saul been, then there’s likely to be a big influx of fanbase centered around the ending of the series.
Better call Saul Season 6 is now airing on Netflix.
