Bethesda’s new Starfield trailer demonstrates companionship, persuasion, etc.

Bethesda Game Studios on Wednesday offered a fresh look at the world and mechanics of the next game, Starfieldshows little gameplay but gives an in-depth look at the player-created characters, companions, and mysteries of the universe that players will experience later this year.
In that video, Starfield Game director Todd Howard, design director Emil Pagliarulo, lead mission designer Will Shen, and lead artist Istvan Pely touch on a few elements of the sci-fi role-playing game. Howard and Pely said that Starfield will include the same character depth as “older, heavy RPGs,” and the studio has “dramatically upgraded” the player-created characters.
“It’s great Starfield to go back to some of the things we didn’t do — your background, your traits, defining your personality, all those stats,” Howard said. “There are so many games that do that that people are ready for something that does a lot of what the older heavyweight RPGs – some of the games we’ve done, remade. things in a new way.”
Elsewhere in the video, Shen and Pely discuss Bethesda’s willingness (and demand) to “accept the chaos” of intertwined character and factional choices; Howard and Pely talk about in-game companions and the importance of how those characters feel and respond to you; and Shen and Pagliarulo touch Starfieldpersuasive system of, an interactive dialogue mechanism whose sound is, perhaps intentionally, influenced by The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivionof the system.
Starfield will be released on November 11th on Windows PC and Xbox Series X, and will be playable at launch via Xbox Game Pass.
