Benedict Cumberbatch Says ‘Doctor Strange 2’ Is “Very Busy” and “bonkers”

After Spider-Man: There’s no way home breaking the door to the multiverse in a few weeks, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to delve into other universes out there in the spring. So far, Marvel has kept the sequel to the Sorcerer Supreme’s 2016 origin film under wraps, so we barely know what to expect from it. However, according to the latest comment from star Benedict Cumberbatch, it could be the end NWH Basic look by comparison.

While talking about WTF with Marc Maron podcasts, Avengers: Infinity War The star has been a little less defensive than usual when it comes to the upcoming film. Cumberbatch labeled the sequel “bonkers”, as much as he did in other places, but this time he also called it “very busy” and voiced concerns about whether his mystical hero will actually have a main character in this film. Here is the relevant exchange:

Benedict Cumberbatch: This is his second one alone.

Marc Maron: This is your movie.

Cumberbatch: Well, yes, that’s part of the problem. There’s a lot going on in there. It’s like, “I have a character arc in this? Does it work?” There’s a lot of great stuff for me to do in there. It’s busy. It’s called. Multiverse of madness and those are the people who like to steal.

We clearly know that Doctor Strange 2 would be an extremely ambitious and populous film, perhaps on par with Avengers flickers, but was a little nervous to hear Cumberbatch describe it as “very busy”, which suggests a lack of focus and a lengthy plot. Similarly, it’s worrisome that the actor isn’t sure the film stems from Strange himself and his journey.

However, before focusing on this issue, perhaps we should remember that DS2 To be currently in the process of rebooting. After that, the movie is still coming together, so it’s clear Cumberbatch might not be clear on how it will all come together. As much as the cast of Infinity War and Endgame felt, and those two examples turned out to be more than OK. Director Sam Raimi has a lot on his plate, but hopefully, he’ll be able to make something very special out of it.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will launch on May 6, 2022.
