Batman Producer Says Movie Is Not Connected To The DC Multiverse

Leave the multiverse to Marvel because Matt Reeves’ Batman is focused on making Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne the best he can be.
In a world where interconnected universes are the biggest box office drivers, DC and Warner Bros. has yet to find his own magic formula. However, Batman will not participate in those experiments, with official confirmation that this Bruce Wayne will fight solo.
Originally meant a Batman adventure starring Ben Affleck, who is also taking on directing duties, Batman then slowly transitioned into the Matt Reeves project until Affleck eventually stepped down from the role. In its final form, the film will deal with Bruce’s second year as the crusader of Gotham, reintroducing some familiar villains from the rogues’ gallery, all while he She is still getting used to her new life purpose.
However, this new setting isn’t reason enough for anyone to think Batman is being rebooted so Robert Pattinson can join in. Wonder Woman, The Flash, or Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker. Reeves and the entire team behind Batman always shied away from the idea of connecting Pattinson to a larger DC multiverse. However, producer Dylan Clark has now denied that by telling Empire, “We weren’t involved in that. Matt is interested in pushing this character to his emotional depth and getting him to his core. “
This statement should come as no surprise to anyone following Reeves’ commentary on the film. Early screenings and trailers for Batman endorse that view and draw Pattinson as a surprisingly good Batman, at least for now. In fact, that’s the whole point of a director wanting to break free from the shackles of having to conform to the messy DCEU rules.
Batman fans should rejoice at the news because the DCEU isn’t exactly the hottest business in Hollywood, with most of its entries failing to satisfy both fans and critics alike. despite its relative financial success. This is especially true after Joker, another indie film that won an Oscar for Phoenix, grossing over a billion dollars, while remaining artistically independent.
There is precedent for Batman, give the results of Christopher Nolan The dark Knight The trilogy of works also became immensely influential with a similarly grounded and more realistic approach, without Bruce having to call for help from the Justice League. Whether Reeves and Pattinson can match Nolan and Christian Bale remains to be seen, but things are going very well to make for a great version of Batman.
Batman will premiere exclusively in theaters on March 4, 2022.
