Banner Saga Stoic developers are working on a new MMO action game
According to a job posting, Stoic, the developer of the Banner Saga trilogy, is looking for a designer familiar with MMO action boss design.
The Stoic name may not immediately shake, but its most popular franchise certainly will: Stoic is the developer behind Banner Saga trilogy of works. The series is famous for its beautiful, unique art style, make important decisions, and crushing difficulty.
Three games of Banner Saga The trilogy proves that Stoic knows his stuff when it comes to RPGs that stand out from the crowd, painting a world of despair and purpose. However, so far this is all that Stoic has been known for. However, it seems unlikely that this will happen in the future, possibly for the foreseeable future.
According to a recent job posting, Stoic is looking for a entry-level designer with certain skills. Specifically, the company is looking for someone with experience assigning MMO stages or levels to multiplayer action games. This is most likely pointing towards them making an MMO action game, and the job posting calling for someone familiar with the Game as a Service model seems to reinforce this. If not a full-fledged MMO, it could be a multiplayer-centric live action game.
In all likelihood, the title in question will be an action RPG, mixing the former powers of Stoic with a new direction. Oddly enough, there’s a pretty good chance this header already has a name, or at least a codename. This designer may also be needed for those Belfry . Project, which Stoic has been known to work on. ONE Xbox exclusive leak Belfry . Project revealed a few things, most importantly it will be a moving action RPG similar to Dragon’s Reward. That might be exactly what would require a classy designer with these expertise.
If that’s the case, the game may not be an MMO, but the skill of designing an MMO boss still comes in handy. After all, such bosses are designed to be defeated by multiple players working together. Such battles lead to dramatic moments, like twelfth Fate 2 Thunder player at the same time.
Only time will tell what has finally emerged from Stoic and whether it will maintain its power as a Live Service.
