Aspesi RTW Fall 2022 – WWD

As a shield to all the stories and narratives that go into fashion collections, Aspesi’s closet clothes seem to fulfill people’s need to simply dress up. They convey a discreet Milanese charm where attitude comes first.

“The clothes are neutral, almost ‘anonymous. “They leave room for personality,” says Lawrence Steele, who returns to Aspesi as creative director in 2020.

His curatorial approach to clothing categories – tailored, comfortable outerwear, cozy knitwear – has created a new, undivided and multi-generational attitude as described visual proof the lookbook depicts the designer’s real circle of friends.

They wore oversized ribbed panties over a preppy striped shirt and loose jeans, and double-breasted jackets in a Prince of Wales check, including an attractive special edition that incorporated floral patterns. with ruby red satin duchesse for a wear-in look. The flimsy jackets were cracked and worn over turtlenecks with long sleeves while the signature, padded bodice introduced new flair through the shirt fabrics.

Steele describes each piece as an archetype of wardrobe staples. Miniaturized or amplified, they are ordinary, but very desirable.
