As government scrutiny of crypto expands, DOJ forms dedicated enforcement unit

Because the US authorities continues to increase its scrutiny of cryptocurrency, the Division of Justice has hatched a brand new unit devoted to its policing. The Nationwide Cryptocurrency Enforcement Workforce, introduced Thursday by Deputy Legal professional Common Lisa O. Monaco, will examine and prosecute “legal misuses of cryptocurrency, notably crimes dedicated by digital foreign money exchanges, mixing and tumbling providers and cash laundering infrastructure actors.” 

The NCET will draw on experience from the DOJ Felony Division’s Cash Laundering and Asset Restoration Part, its Pc Crime and Mental Property Part and different sections throughout the DOJ Felony Division.
